Job Summary
STF is seeking a Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the submission and technical review of engineering changes to systems at DISA Joint SATCOM Teleports to determine impact to future SATCOM modem capabilities. Efforts will include analysis of detailed modem requirements, technology evolution, acquisition program roadmaps, ECR, and fielding plans and sustainment strategies. The scope of the effort includes systems for SHF, Commercial, EHF and UHF SATCOM. This position will also support end-to-end SATCOM circuit connectivity to include cryptos, patching and switching systems, and IP network interface/integration at Navy and other Service's SATCOM Gateway facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
The candidate will support the development of a roadmap and acquisition strategy for Satellite Communications (SATCOM) modem technology and integrate the roadmap into current DISA Gateway modernization and the transition of those gateways to the planned Modernized Teleport System (MTS). The roadmap should assess the current and future (under R&D with high TRLs) modems able to support the US Space Force's Future SATCOM Force Design which calls for a multi-orbital and inter/intra-connected space segment and hybrid (Mult-orbit/multi-waveform/multi-channel capable) user terminals. The roadmap should recommend the timeframe for transition from the current modem baseline to the recommended future and include an acquisition strategy and funding profile over the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP). Successful candidate will also Work with DoD CIO to formally review and gain formal approval of all reference architectures to include the SATCOM Gateway Reference Architecture. Establish SATCOM stakeholder reviews followed by Architecture stakeholder reviews which occur through DoD CIO's Enterprise Architecture and Engineering Panel (EAEP) Finalize the Modernized Teleport System (MTS) Capability Development Document (CDD) and assist DISA with formal coordination through the DoD's Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process to achieve Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) approval/endorsement through the issuance of a JROC Memo (JROCM). This activity will include an acquisition strategy and funding profile across the FYDP.
Qualifications and Skills
Required knowledge and years of experience
Must have at least eighteen (18) years of experience in military communications or network systems. Must have excellent writing skills and use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio). Systems engineering configuration control process and SATCOM Gateway knowledge is desired.

Education Requirements
Bachelors Degree preferred in a technical field. For the right person, we can waive if no degree
