We have an exciting opportunity open for a Damage Prevention Coordinator based in Oklahoma.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Damage Prevention Coordinator role is to protect pipeline assets and prevent inadvertent damage caused by the public and/or contractors. Promote safe digging practices and increase knowledge of damage prevention techniques. Perform damage investigations to determine root cause, fault, liability, troubleshoot, and successfully resolve problems independently under limited supervision. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with excavators and contractors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts standard and more complex audits of utility locating contractors and/or company locators.
  • Provides damage prevention and facility awareness presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Assist and evaluate excavators on job sites to ensure compliance with state laws.
  • Provides support to internal and external customers during investigations, locating untoneable facilities and other processes.
  • Act as liaison between company and community on all Damage Prevention Program matters.
  • Provide technical expertise related to developing and implementing all aspects of Summit Utilities’ Damage Prevention Program.
  • Ensures timely and accurate reports are created and delivered to users for decision-making processes to improve corporate performance, compliance, and reduce damages to SUI facilities.
  • Manage all required Damage Prevention Program reporting
  • Participate in company and regulatory body audits.
  • Develop and deliver training and awareness campaigns for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Five plus years of relevant experience (damage prevention, gas operations, construction or EHS function w/experience conducting investigations)
  • Associate degree or Trade School Certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Commitment to Safety
  • Knowledge of natural gas pipeline or other utility operations and have construction, excavation, and locating experience.
  • Knowledge of excavation equipment, damage prevention standards, state and federal damage prevention regulations and state one-call laws.
  • Knowledge of safety and construction work practices, including a working knowledge of gas operations and safety when working in and around excavations.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of damage prevention programs.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of understanding of facility locating fundamentals and related operation of locating instruments.
  • Demonstrate an understanding to read and interpret facility maps and drawings.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Prepare written communications to a variety of internal and external audiences.
