Job Description:

Ardurra seeks a Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our team in southern CA. We are looking for experienced professionals who want the opportunity to help grow an organization with the support and resources of a national firm with a solid organizational platform. In this role you will support the delivery of a variety of projects across our Southwest Region, including California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. In this role, you will lead and develop a team to complete a variety of environmental projects related to state, local, and federal laws and regulations; and will coordinate and maintain effective relationships with agencies, clients, subconsultants, and the public.


The ideal candidate will have experience with preparing and managing projects associated Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as well as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, such as Categorical Exclusions (CATEX) and Environmental Assessments (EA), and preparing environmental documents/permits that satisfy federal regulations such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), and Clean Water Act (CWA). Excellent written, communication, and computer skills and the willingness to work in both field and office environments on a wide range of environmental projects is required.


This motivated professional will help procure and coordinate project pursuits; provide experienced oversight of environmental compliance/permitting projects; and manage subordinates in the execution of work, as well as provide mentorship to staff in career advancement. In partnership with Client Service Managers, this entrepreneur will be a strong partner in advancing the strategic growth of the Southwest Region, both in capability and service, helping Ardurra advance further as a preeminent selection for NEPA/CEQA compliances throughout the region.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Planning Studies, an environmental discipline or similar.

  • 15-20+ years of experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of successfully securing and managing environmental projects.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and policies. Experience related to critical areas and priority species/habitats within the State of CA a plus.

  • Experience with federally and state funded projects is a definite plus.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, cities, government agencies, surveyors, attorneys, and various departments within many municipalities.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and manage project risks and issues effectively.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Oversee the management and development of CEQA and NEPA documents including Categorical Exemptions, Environmental Impact Report (EIR), Initial Studies/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND), Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EIS).

  • Oversight of staff to ensure successful completion of technical reports and compliance documentation and a variety of permitting applications to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Lead technical staff in document preparation, editing, and production; assigning tasks; attendance at project meetings inside and outside the office including interfacing with clients.

  • Project management including monitoring budget control, tracking schedules, and personnel allocation/planning.

  • Participate and/or present at project and public meetings and lead in preparing meeting materials and documenting meeting results.

  • Lead and/or participate on efforts in business development and marketing, and manage efforts in preparing and submitting proposals, including the development of project scopes and attending proposal interviews.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Stay current on trends related to environmental laws and regulations.

  • Attend professional development opportunities to continue expanding your knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to execute work in a largely unsupervised manner and taking responsibility for project assignments and quality of work.


Comp range: $180,000 to $220,000/year (DOE).
