The Mid/Senior Industrial Hygienist will support the Safety and Mission Assurance contract in NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), Mountain View, CA. This position will support approximately 20 Industrial Hygiene programs at a primarily research facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute the Industrial Hygiene SOW and Task Orders following the requirements, deliverables, and deadlines provided by the customer.
Develop annual budgets that include laboratory analysis, equipment calibration, and consumables.
Perform air sampling and noise sampling for both area and personal exposure assessments across ARC.
Write and review sampling plans for air sampling, as well as other special projects based on OSHA/NIOSH analytical methods.
Review and provide comments on construction permits along with attending weekly permit board meetings.
Provide design recommendations on new ventilation systems along with assessing current ventilation systems based on ACGIH recommendations on a quarterly, annual, or biannual basis.
Write and update standard operating procedures for the industrial hygiene team based on contract requirements.
Review chemical purchases and provide recommendations for hazard controls, PPE, and air sampling.
Perform annual audits of shops, labs, and offices to support OSHA VPP certification.
Deliver various Industrial Hygiene related trainings as well as present results/recommendations to supervisors and senior management.
Provide monthly metrics of deliverables to the customer as required.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of biology, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience including leading teams.
Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Must be a Certified CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor.
Must have experience writing and reviewing technical reports that follow standard scientific methodology.
DESIRED:
Master of Science degree in the field of industrial hygiene, occupational health, or a related field.
Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) by the State of CA (Cal OSHA)
Certified Lead Professional by the State of CA (DHS/CDPH)
Desired to be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Experience working as a government contractor or on government contracts.
WORK LOCATION:
This position is located onsite, with the option for 1-2 days a week hybrid based on workload.
This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
