Summary/objective


As a part-time seasonal worker reviewing tax returns, you will focus on evaluating more complex tax returns with minimal assistance. Additionally, you will handle reviews of increasingly intricate tax returns. Regular communication with internal stakeholders and managers will be essential. Proficiency in tax research, along with the ability to effectively document and cite findings, will also be key aspects of this role.

  • Review tax returns and other compliance documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to professional and firm standards.

  • Monitor project timelines and deadlines to ensure efficient completion of assigned work.

  • Address and resolve technical or procedural questions that arise during the review process.

  • Maintain clear communication with leadership, providing updates on project progress and flagging potential issues.

  • Communicate directly with clients to clarify details and address inquiries, maintaining professionalism and client satisfaction.

  • Stay informed about current economic and legislative developments that may impact tax compliance or planning.

  • Contribute to a culture of client service by identifying opportunities to add value to client engagements.

  • Ensure accurate data entry, record-keeping, and reporting within all assigned responsibilities.

  • Participate in performance feedback for staff by offering insights on work quality and areas for improvement.


 


Work environment



  • Work to be performed in HORNE office setting or remotely

  • 20 – 30 hours a week expected


 


Physical demands



  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Required education and experience



  •  2 – 6 years’ experience in public accounting with a focus on tax

  •  Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting


 


Preferred education and experience



  • Current and valid CPA or EA license strongly preferred. If not currently a CPA, the ideal candidate must be CPA eligible and working toward obtaining licensure by taking and passing applicable state CPA exam

  • If CPA, must be a member in good standing with the AICPA and respective state societies
