Be a key player in driving precision, quality, and innovation in the oil and gas industry with our R&D team.
About the Role:
The Testing Technician will support the Research and Development (R&D) team by preparing, executing, and documenting various product tests. You will work hands-on with advanced testing equipment to ensure prototypes and components meet rigorous industry standards. This role is ideal for individuals who excel in precision work, problem-solving, and thrive in technically challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Setup & Execution
Modify or design test systems to meet project specifications, including mechanical, thermal, and pressure systems.
Prepare prototypes by installing strain gauges, thermocouples, and other instrumentation with high precision.
Perform tests in various conditions:
Mechanical: Tension, compression, torque.
Environmental: Gas and hydrostatic pressure, elevated temperature conditions.
Troubleshoot test setups to ensure system integrity and accuracy throughout the process.
Equipment Maintenance
Inspect, maintain, and calibrate test equipment, including:
Hydraulic load frames.
Pumps, valves, and hoses.
Threaded pipe testing systems.
Proactively identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements to minimize downtime.
Data Collection & Reporting
Operate data acquisition systems to record accurate test data, including load, displacement, strain, and pressure readings.
Create comprehensive test reports with:
Graphs: Load vs. time, strain distributions, or pressure charts.
Images: Before/after test conditions, thermal profiles.
Analysis: Observations, anomalies, and root cause identification (if applicable).
Collaborate with R&D engineers to provide real-time insights during testing phases.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and company standards.
Maintain clean, organized workstations to ensure a safe and efficient testing environment.
Participate in safety audits and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant coursework (mechanics, electronics, metallurgy).
Minimum 2 years of hands-on testing experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or related environments.
Experience with oil and gas threaded pipe connections preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in:
Applying strain gauges and thermal sensors.
Operating hydraulic test systems and data acquisition software.
Strong mechanical aptitude to assemble, troubleshoot, and calibrate test systems.
Experience analyzing test results and interpreting complex data.
Physical & General Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull 75 lbs.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and instructions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data reporting.
