Wood is currently inviting expressions of interest for a Project Control Lead for a new offshore brownfield engineering office based out of the Greater New Orleans area.
Leads the cost; planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to assignments / project teams and clients, typically on projects ranged from small to moderate size and complexity for both engineering services and equipment supply for the Operations Americas Brownfield Engineering and Decommissioning Business.
Ensures implementation, set up, and run all required project controls systems, tools, and interfaces to allow successful management and reporting of the project costs, schedule, tax-related issues and risks on projects and specific assignments.
A wide ranging and hands on role focusing on both project and service delivery and at times resource management.
The role will interface with several key stakeholders across the project and wider business.
Primary focal point for the Finance, Project Manager, Client or Project Team for all matters relating to project costs, schedules, and risk; and resources requirements.
Responsible for ensuring that a professional Project Controls service is delivered by their team to all internal and external customers
Overall responsibility for Operations Americas Brownfield Engineering and Decommissioning Portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Act as the focal point with the client and any contractor Project Controllers as appropriate to ensure costs and progress are reported accurately, ensure alignment with the project reporting requirements, and ensure timely and accurate cost and progress reporting
Monitor overall project / assignment progress status, achievement and non-achievement of major milestones and analyze performance in relation to plan
Responsible for identification, monitoring and reporting against the project critical path providing early warning to the Project Manager of any potential slippages
Effectively manage the communications interfaces essential for the delivery of cost, planning, scheduling and risk deliverables and services
Utilize project management systems and tools to update and manage project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts for weekly/monthly project reporting and monthly Management Reviews
Report project status and KPI to management
Review/produce weekly and monthly project cost and planning status reports, as appropriate
Implement the project Work Breakdown Structure for specific scopes of work
Implement the cost and planning control structures in alignment with the project WBS
Lead the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals
Timely control and forecasting of budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests is properly assessed and included in the budget and schedules, when applicable
Ensures Project Accountants and Billing Specialists receive support required from the team
Ensures timely and accurate invoicing on projects
Develop and maintain monthly Contingency, Bookings, Accruals, and cash flow position to provide visibility to Management and Finance Team
Cash collections forecasting on project and business line level (invoice planning, generation, tracking/expediting receivables).
Monitors, records and/or evaluates progress for subcontractors
Supports with quantifying subcontractor scopes of work for request for quotations Creation of the projects fully resourced, logic linked Gantt Charts within preferred planning software to the agreed project and program requirements
Monitor current and forecast future resource needs for the project and program through analysis of workload at project level
Identify slippages, significant float erosion and lead the recovery process
Responsible for overall development and issuance of project change orders / variations in accordance with contract / assignment change notifications
Advocate and promote the project change management system ensuring process is adhered to
Attendance at client progress meetings when required
Ensure risk is managed and monitored at project level in line with local standards and processes
Ensure Project Controls processes and procedures are accurate, up to date and followed
Liaise with clients and ensure that projects are managed effectively to ensure delivery in a manner which meets quality, time, and budget specifications
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all cost, planning and risk deliverables prior to issue to internal or external customer
Ensure all project specific tools and systems are set up and functioning adequately
Implement project specific tax strategies recommended by Tax Advisors. Provide leadership on resolving project related tax issues as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Typically requires a minimum of eight (6) years of relevant industry experience, with at least six (4) years in project control positions.
Knowledge and Appreciation of the core principles of Contracts Management, Commercial Management and Project Management
Working knowledge and application of earned value and other monitoring techniques
Excellent client service focus
Exceptional organizational skills and able to multi-task"
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite of applications
Prior field experience working on-site viewed favorably.
