The School of Art & Art History at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa invites applications for a Drawing-focused non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction, beginning in August 2025. We seek candidates with a strong emphasis on drawing as a medium in contemporary studio practice, both in their roles as educators and in their personal artistic production. The successful candidate will have experience teaching drawing-focused classes and a commitment to advancing the drawing curriculum within the School of Art & Art History.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical and theoretical foundation in drawing, along with proficiency in a second medium such as painting or printmaking, adopting an expansive approach that embraces the evolving role of studio art production in a global context.

Responsibilities:
The candidate will teach four undergraduate courses per semester and may mentor graduate students. This position typically includes teaching beginning and intermediate drawing courses, as well as a class in painting, printmaking, or other medium relative to the candidate's expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum Qualification MFA, or equivalent terminal degree with experience from an accredited institution. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • A strong track record of drawing-based research accomplishments.
  • Ability to teach a range of skill sets including traditional and experimental drawing process.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level with a demonstrated ability to teach drawing courses.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of drawing processes and the theoretical background of the medium.
  • Experience teaching and studio-based production in either painting or printmaking.
  • Experience mentoring students at the graduate level.
