Long Lines Broadband is seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Communications Locator to join our team. This leadership role involves managing a team of 3-4 employees, ensuring the accurate locating and marking of underground utilities, and contributing to system maintenance and infrastructure projects. Rate: $25-$30/hour plus on call and overtime pay if applicable
Location: Sergeant Bluff, IA
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Lead and manage a team of 3-4 employees, ensuring high standards of productivity and quality.
Read and interpret maps and documentation to accurately locate underground utilities.
Operate handheld detection equipment to identify and mark utility locations.
Prioritize and schedule locating requests to optimize efficiency.
Mark underground utility locations using spray paints, flags, and required tools.
Accurately document completed locates using a company-provided laptop.
Update and maintain current mapping data using GIS mapping software.
Collaborate with engineers to ensure infrastructure maps are accurate and up-to-date.
Analyze and verify mapping data for consistency and identify opportunities for improvements.
Support plant design, quality control, damage prevention, and residential/commercial development projects.
A successful Lead Communications Locator has:
Experience in the locating industry and familiarity with underground utility construction.
Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with employees, contractors, homeowners, and work crews.
Proficiency with basic computer applications.
Availability to participate in on-call schedules (every 4 weeks).
