Role Description
Required Skills and Experience
• Demonstrated ability to learn, develop, and work within a clinical laboratory team
• Ability to operate autonomously within the scope of responsibility
• IT and LIS (laboratory information systems) experience and general comfort level with computer systems, technology, and equipment interfaces.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work within Windows and Laboratory Information System environment
• Able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures in regards to microbiology, LIS, and general lab practices.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and management, providing support as needed
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.
• Robust organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced STAT environment.
• Proficient knowledge in laboratory procedures for processing and maintaining records of patient results
• Experience with the following instruments: Vitek2, MALDI-TOF MS, Centrifuge, Microscope
• Knowledge and experience with diagnostic microbiology cultures (urine, non-urine, and fungal cultures) and susceptibility interpretation (MIC and disc diffusion methods)
• Knowledge and understanding of microbiology methods and procedures (gram stain, acid fast stain, biochemical testing, and selective media)
• Fecal parasite screen processing, interpretation, and resulting.
• Experience in the veterinary field is strongly preferred but not required. Other experience considered as applicable.
Physical and Time requirements:
• Able to sit and stand for long periods
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
• Flexible hours and overtime may be required, ability to cover other shifts as requested
• SHIFT TIME: Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Education / Experience
• MT or MLT: 0 to 5+ years of lab experience
• CVT/RVT: 1 to 5+ years of lab experience.
• 2-year degree: 1 to-5+ years of lab experience.
• 4-year degree: 1 to 5+ years of lab experience
