We are seeking a motivated & enthusiastic seasonal Civil Intern to join our team. This position offers hands-on experience in various aspects of civil construction, providing valuable insight into the industry and an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects.
Job Overview:
As a Civil Intern, you will assist planning and execution of heavy civil site work, drainage, environmental, road, & highway projects. You will work alongside experienced Civil Engineers & Project Managers as you gain hands-on experience in all aspects of Civil Construction. Your responsibilities will include:
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will currently be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and possess the desire to learn and grow in their field.
Technical Aptitude & Experience
Qualified candidates will have experience in or the capacity to learn construction project scheduling and management software such as Primavera, Vista, Viewpoint, HCSS, or QuickBooks as well as the Microsoft suite.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Prior to employment, all candidates must complete a job application and undergo drug screening, background checks, and E-Verify Employment Authorization.
Work Environment
Work environment includes office machines, electronics and filing systems. Frequent lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Constant sitting, typing, and reaching for long periods of time. Must have good hand/eye coordination. Required to sit at a computer for several hours at a time. This position also requires working in various construction job sites that can expose you to extreme weather conditions, such as high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, and rain. The job sites can also be loud due to the noise level from moving mechanical parts. Additionally, you may be required to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions, lift heavy objects, and walk or stand for long periods.
Physical Demands
The job requires you to have excellent stamina and physical strength to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects. You will also need good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to operate machinery and perform tasks effectively. The job requires you to work on uneven, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, and inconsistent ground, and you must be able to quickly move your arms and legs.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
Brown Industrial Construction Civil Intern is an hourly, seasonal position. The position is not eligible for benefits.
