The William & Mary Whole of Government Center of Excellence (WGC) provides mid-career public policy professionals and military officers in federal, state, and local agencies practical training on interagency collaboration, complex national security and other public policy problems. WGCbrings together leaders from all levels of government and the military for symposia, discussions, and projects to promote creative, collaborative research and solutions to emerging issues. Currently,
WGCis developing a national security curriculum, including e-learning opportunities, and research partnerships while providing customized non-degree training and education certificates for a variety of partners. Unlike other national security programs, W&M invokes the "whole of university" approach to our education, training, and research programs, leveraging partnerships with W&M Law School, Business School, Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences, School of Education, Washington Center, and departments across the Arts & Sciences, among others. VET.


Position Summary:

The Whole of Government Center of Excellence at William & Mary invites applications for a part-time hourly Logistics and Project Manager for the planned relocation of the Institute for Integrative Conservation, The Global Research Institute, and the Whole of Government Center of Excellence (the "three units") to William & Mary's Robert M. Gates Hall in Spring 2026. This is a fixed term position ending August 31, 2026. Hours per week may vary, some weeks may require no working hours while others will require up to 15. Schedule and hours will be based on business needs. There will be no opportunities for an extension or any full-time employment from this role.The position will report directly to the Director of the Whole of Government Center of Excellence. Successful candidates will have the ability to understand and support the related but unique institutional interests of William & Mary, WGC, IIC, and GRI equally.


Primary responsibilities include:


  • Develop and adopt a strategic design plan that translates the culture and mission of three distinct units into a cohesive visual identity to complement a new physical layout and build.

  • Ensure that workplace cultural practices, research activities, and needs across three units, 15 research labs, and 90 staff are equally understood, communicated, and translated into the design and build of Gates Hall.

  • Collaborate with W&M architecture, design, and build teams as needed in person, via email, etc. to ensure timely and efficient communication across all parties.

  • Lead a space planning committee with a representative from IIC, GRI, WGC to ensure that the needs and preferences of each organization are equally heard, understood, and reflected in the visual identity and design plans of Gates Hall.

  • Represent the needs and decisions identified by the committee to other parties at William and Mary and architecture, design, and build teams.

  • Work closely with William & Mary's Senior Vice President for University Advancement, Executive Director of the W&M Real Estate Foundation, and AVP Real Estate & Strategic Space Planning.

  • Attend build and design meetings for Gates Hall. Represent the collective needs of IIC, GRI, WGC at these meetings, and prepare and communicate feedback from IIC, GRI, WGC to issues and decisions that arise in these meetings.

  • Coordinate and implement build out of the branding and visual design elements to represent IIC, GRI, and WGC equally in Gates Hall, and ensure seamless integration with larger architectural and design activities.

Conditions of Employment:




  • This position is a part time hourly position, ending August 31, 2026. All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.

  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with consulting on business moves/relocations.

  • Organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently with competing deadlines.

  • Verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences, including the university leadership.

  • Proven ability to communicate with and present information to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, resolve issues effectively with a solutions-oriented mindset, and exercise sound judgement when making decisions.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Public speaking experience.

  • Experience supporting and advising varied levels of constituents.

  • Familiarity with William & Mary departments and operational policies.

  • Experience with architectural design builds for cross-functional purposes in academia.

  • Experience working with university centers and leadership.

  • Experience working with architectural designers.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Internet-based systems (e.g. Canva) and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook.

Advertised Pay Range:

$35 - $40/hour commensurate with experience
