Job Summary


Vertiv is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Sr. Applications Engineer specializing in Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs). In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and technical support of rack PDU products, ensuring seamless integration with other components of physical infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, sales, and product teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for our clients, maintaining a high standard of reliability and performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on rack PDU firmware, monitoring, and power configurations, providing in-depth technical guidance and support.
  • Customer Engagement: Work directly with customers to understand their requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal performance of rack PDUs in their environments.
  • Product Development Support: Collaborate with product management teams to define requirements, develop specifications, and provide feedback on rack PDU designs to ensure alignment with customer needs and market trends.
  • Firmware and Monitoring: Collaborate with firmware development teams to guide prioritization and implementation timelines for firmware and monitoring systems within rack PDU offering. Ensure that customer requirements are clearly defined and new features are compatible with industry standards.
  • Integration Support: Facilitate integration of rack PDUs with other physical infrastructure components, such as rack enclosures, cooling systems, and IT equipment, to create comprehensive, scalable solutions.
  • Solution Design: Work within cross-functional teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of customized rack PDU solutions tailored to customer applications.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting resources for rack PDUs.
  • Training and Support: Provide training sessions and technical support to internal teams, partners, and clients, ensuring a deep understanding of rack PDU products and their applications.
  • Product Testing and Quality Assurance: Participate in product testing, validation, and quality assurance to ensure that all rack PDU solutions meet rigorous performance and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in applications engineering or a similar role with a focus on rack PDUs or related power distribution products.
  • In-depth knowledge of rack PDU firmware and monitoring systems.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering principles, specifically related to power distribution.
  • Experience with network protocols and management systems (e.g., SNMP, Modbus, IPMI).
  • Understanding of physical infrastructure components, including rack enclosures, cooling solutions, and cable management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach to technical challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for delivering technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with related physical infrastructure elements such as UPS systems, cooling systems, and cable management.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management, especially in the technology or data center industry.
