Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently hiring a Chemist to support our global software client onsite in Vancouver, WA. This role is scientific in nature and the ideal candidate would benefit from experience in an ever-evolving R&D team culture. This is a full-time, long-term position with day shift available working at the client-site with a Monday through Friday work week.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Performs routine laboratory procedures in an applied chemistry lab.
Chromatography
Mass Spectrometry
IR Spectroscopy
UV Analysis
Thermal Characterization
Optical Analysis & Microscopy
Operation of lab equipment in complex workflows to generate reliable data.
Execution of detailed lab protocols and standard operating procedures.
Detailed documentation of experimental methods and results.
Working in an interdisciplinary environment – scientists, engineers, regulators.
Use of electronic lab journal software and communication tools.
Research into industry standard test methods in support of R&D data needs
Conduct thoughtful discussions on experimental procedures and observation of results.
Flexibility in assignment to accommodate fluctuation in lab staff availability and workload.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and clean laboratory environment.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The ability to operate advanced instruments in a routine fashion, perform maintenance and troubleshooting is required.
Must have the ability to modify equipment controls and test scripts to execute experimental instruction.
Must have the capabilities of adaptive learning to operate prototype tools and products in a developmental setting.
Strong attention to detail is necessary.
Must possess an understanding of scientific methodology and good laboratory practices
Must possess a scientific background to understand experimental rationale.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to do literature searches to answer important scientific questions is required.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required with the ability to effectively communicate with varied levels of employees and interdisciplinary partners.
At minimum, proficient to advanced user knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Access, and SharePoint with comfortability navigating and viewing web pages.
Experience with multi-modal communications – direct message, team chat, video conferencing, email is required.
Must possess technical knowledge and experience with good laboratory practices and safety rules.
4-year Technical/College diploma in Chemistry is preferred.
Minimum 2 years’ work experience at a technician level in a Chemistry environment. Experience requirements can be waived/reduced depending on education qualifications, skillset, industry standard certifications or other related industry work experience.
Work or educational experience in Chemistry labs and extensive experience with the follow equipment:
Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR)
Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)
Prior work experience in a regulated industry is preferred.

A competitive pay of $22-24/hr. dependent on relative experience.
