Lead Bindery and Mail Specialist Objective
To provide printing and related services to all of Michigan Farm Bureau and its Affiliated Companies to meet customer deadlines and quality expectations. To serve as lead staff for all bindery services, mail processing and job completion for the department. 89% of the jobs that flow through the department are processed by this position.
Lead Bindery and Mail Specialist Responsibilities
Operate digital printing and finishing production equipment to produce a variety of printed materials, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to project specifications. Interpret written and verbal instructions to produce work that meets customer expectations and department standards. Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of printing equipment. Manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and production processes.
Perform quality checks on printed materials to ensure consistency and accuracy, watching for printing issues, finishing defects, correct finishing, quantities, and confirm material match requested order placed by customer. Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries and ensuring satisfaction with print products.
Operate a digital letterhead and envelope press along with addressing mailings on the equipment.
Operate the following bindery equipment:
· Industrial paper cutter
· GBC Coil Binding System
· Tabbing Machine for mailings
· Baum Folder for folding and perforating
· Morgana Creaser
· Duplo Bookletmaker
· 3 Hole Drill Press
· Shrinkwrap Machine
Perform updates, as required, to forms and letterheads using the software programs resident on the department personal computer such as Adobe Acrobat and others.
Perform prepress layouts to achieve the most effective use of the paper stock to be used.
Store paper stock and supplies in the stockroom as they arrive and help keep the stockroom neat and clean at all times.
Remove the necessary paper stock from inventory for printing through material entries in the Avanti Production System. Assist with inventory management and annual inventory count/verification.
Prepare and sort nonprofit and standard mailings. Be familiar with USPS postal guidelines for mail processing.
Operate a mailer inserter and postage meter to collate, fold, insert and seal mailings.
Assist truck driver making deliveries to the Farm Bureau Center by notifying the receiving departments when necessary.
Serve as backup operator for the black and white digital copy production system in the absence of the regular operator.
Lead Bindery and Mail Specialist Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two years training in graphic arts field and offset printing at a technical school or college, or equivalent experience required.
Experience operating folders, stitchers, collators and other bindery equipment required.
Knowledge of graphic arts printing techniques and digital print equipment required.
Knowledge of mail processing information.
