A Day in the Life
Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division in searching for a dynamic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team! The chosen candidate will be heavily involved in supporting a critical ablation catheter for the R&D and Operations organizations. Cardiac Ablation Solutions team is engaged in developing and manufacturing next generation medical technologies that save lives and improve the quality of living for millions of patients across the world.

As a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer , you will be a key member of the R&D team and will work directly with the Operations team at manufacturing site . In this role, you will collaborate with other global cross-functional team members to provide product lifecycle management and ensure sustained production capabilities to meet the growing needs of our business. You will also manage and support project activities, update and maintain documentation, and drive continuous improvement and cost savings efforts for the products you support through the following activities:

  • Work to maintain product performance and quality of existing products by leading and assisting with issues relating to CAPAs, customer complaints, and manufacturing processes and support PFMEA, testing, drawing updates, supplier change requests, and p rocess v alidation plans for released products

  • Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices; analysis of customer returns; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints.

  • Lead projects from initiation to completion according to the Change Development Process and other applicable procedures ensuring projects are defined, created, planned and executed, following the process in terms of timeline, resources, budget, scope and risks

  • Work with project core team members including Component Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Operations and Marketing to ensure projects and activities are executed according to Medtronic processes

  • Manage Bill Of Material (BOM) updates and the maintenance of Design History Files and Technical File Documentation

  • Work with supply chain and component engineering on logistic plans, End-of-Life (EOL) procedures and implementation of product changes including researching, verifying, and implementing the replacement of end-of-life components while sustaining current product design intents

  • Assume responsibility for device and/or internally produced or externally purchased components after transfer into high-volume production

Must Have, Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related study with 4+ years of engineering experience

  • Or a n advanced degree in Engineering or related study with 2+ years of engineering experience

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical , Biomedical, or Materials Engineering

  • 4+ years of experience working in a sustaining and/or manufacturing engineering environment

  • Strong catheter background

  • 3+ years direct experience in a Multidisciplinary Project/Technical Engineering role

  • Medical Devices experience

  • Experience in Change Development Process and /or analogous post commercialization change process

  • Ability to work, influence and lead in a matrix environment

  • Familiarity with FDA Quality Systems Regulations (QSR)

  • Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical disciplines. Good team player.

  • Experience and competence with Solid Works or other CAD Modeling program

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in order to interact with, build and mature relationships with, and influence multi-disciplinary cross-functional resources

  • Application of statistical and analytical methods

  • Experience in development and sustaining of medical devices

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$98,400.00 - $147,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
