Responsibilities

As an Associate Director - UX Research (Product Strategy), you will:
  • Lead and support a team in the planning and design of discovery and evaluative research, particularly for strategic product initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define product and UX research strategy and oversee the execution of user research that supports the design and development of AT&T products.
  • Manage and mentor a team of UX researchers as they operationalize and perform user research.
  • Direct UX researchers in the design and analysis of qualitative and quantitative studies that identify opportunities through actionable insights.
  • Work with UX, product and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize research projects.
  • Develop goals and success measures to gauge effectiveness of research studies.
  • Forecast resource needs to provide necessary capabilities and expertise in support of Design Technology business goals and objectives.
  • Innovate methods for sharing insights and democratizing research; and support maintaining research on an insights repository, making research easily accessible across AT&T and fostering an evidence-based, decision-making culture.
  • Share research methods, rigor, and best practices to scale research performed by UX, product management, and other teams.
  • Support design-thinking practices, workshop facilitation, and translating research to experience requirements with product partners.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience performing and leading UX research in a product-development environment.
  • 2+ years experience leading and developing UX researchers.
  • Expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of generative and evaluative research methods.
  • Proven record uncovering, synthesizing, and distributing actionable insights that informed product strategy and decisions.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional working sessions and/or workshops with product partners, peers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of working with agile and lean processes with product and development teams.
  • Strong understanding of the Jobs-to-be-done framework.
  • Understanding of developing requirements in product strategy and agile delivery using user research and design.
  • Experience with product requirements that stem from research and design.
  • Highly collaborative with peers, leadership, and direct reports; and ability to effectively engage partners to overcome barriers.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • MS or PhD in a human behavior-related field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Information Science) or equivalent experience.


Education: Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interactive Media, or Human Factors Engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience: Expert- level, real-world experience in design (8-10 years) with working knowledge of managing projects and teams independently.

This position will be on-site in our Dallas, TX Headquarters, Design Studio and Lab in Austin, TX, or Bothell, WA

Our Associate Director-UX Research earn between $155,400 - $261,100.00 USD Annual Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
