Job Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director of SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy, the Manager of SEC Reporting will be responsible for SEC Reporting, technical accounting, and internal control execution and compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley).
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, SEC reporting rules, and company policies, including footnote disclosures, statement of cash flows, management's discussion and analysis, XBRL tagging, and quarterly accounting memos
Work closely with others across the organization (i.e., Financial Planning and Analysis, Corporate Treasury, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Investor Relations, Lines of Business, etc.) to collaborate on and draft required disclosures
Conduct peer reviews and benchmark disclosures with other SEC filers
Conduct variance analyses to determine whether changes in financial statement line items and disclosures from the prior period appear reasonable
Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on accounting treatment for significant and/or unusual transactions
Assist in the development and maintenance of the company's technical accounting policies and procedures
Assist with special projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery of results
Liaise with external auditors, fielding questions and providing necessary documentation and explanations
Collaborate with the first line control unit, SOX, and internal audit teams to implement process recommendations and strengthen internal controls
Drive process enhancement, optimize efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting
Active CPA license is required
Minimum of 6 years of experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a combination of Big 4 public accounting and mid-sized regional accounting experience
Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with depository and lending institutions, is a plus
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting rules, and SOX
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail oriented, with an ability to accomplish multiple tasks within an agreed-upon timeframe through effective prioritization
Self-motivation to identify areas of improvement and implement change
Competent in using Microsoft Office, ERP applications, and Workiva/WDesk
The estimated base salary range for this position is $95,000 USD to $125,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
