The Field Engineer will perform various field observation and logging functions designed to collect engineering data and ensure drilling or construction activities are being completed in conformance to work plans, geotechnical reports, project plans, specifications, etc.
The candidate may also be assigned professional engineering tasks designed to provide effective technical solutions and value to the client and to develop and increase professional knowledge and abilities. These assignments require the application of standard or advanced geotechnical investigation techniques, analyses, procedures, and criteria.
Salary Range for this role is as follows: $78,400 - 125,500
Job Responsibilities
Complete field boring logs (training will be provided), take soil samples at prescribed depths, and perform standard or, as requested, specialized complex tests.
Supervise drilling, backfilling, and traffic control operations performed by others.
As needed, assist with material inspection, laboratory testing, non-destructive testing, and drilling.
Support all field activities, and associated paperwork.
Observe and document geotechnical aspects of construction and perform field soil testing.
Supervise or collaborate with subcontractor field technicians.
Perform general repair and maintenance on equipment and coordinate additional supply purchases.
Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety programs and quality management systems.
Ensure that commitments to clients are met with respect to quality, timeliness, and budget.
Obtaining the necessary field soil technician certifications
Following safety guidelines and wearing appropriate safety equipment
Be able to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
Performing other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology, or a related degree field is required.
Knowledge in general geotechnical data acquisition and testing.
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel);
Able to communicate (i.e. verbally and written) to deliver results for internal and external clients.
A team player who can form working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
Ability to maintain relationships with clients and contractors.
Willing to travel for work.
