Position Overview

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality of materials, components, and products received from suppliers. Your role will focus on ensuring that all incoming products meet the required specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, Purchasing, and other stakeholders to monitor supplier performance, identify and resolve quality issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary. Through your efforts, you will ensure that the quality of incoming materials supports smooth and efficient production operations

Essential Job Functions



  • Oversee Incoming Product Quality Control: Manage the inspection and testing of materials and components received from suppliers to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards before being used in production.

  • Manage Non-Conformance and Defects: Identify and address non-conformances related to incoming materials or components. Coordinate with suppliers to investigate the root causes and ensure that effective corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.

  • Monitor Supplier Quality Performance: Continuously assess the quality of products from suppliers through data analysis, inspection results, and performance tracking. Address quality issues and collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes.

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions: Perform root cause analysis on quality issues concerning received products. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions, working closely with suppliers to ensure timely resolution.

  • Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve product quality concerns related to incoming materials, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.

  • Maintain Quality Documentation and Reports: Manage the documentation for all inspection results, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions (CAPAs and SCARS), and supplier performance evaluations (scorecards). Prepare regular quality reports and KPIs to communicate key findings and improvements.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Implement continuous improvement programs to address issues with incoming materials and enhance product quality including conducting supplier quality audits when necessary. Use tools such as statistical process control (SPC), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and other problem-solving techniques.

  • Ensure Compliance with Quality Standards: Ensure that received products comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025) and customer-specific requirements. Maintain proper documentation to support compliance.

  • Provide Supplier Training and Support: Offer guidance and training to suppliers and inspectors on quality expectations and industry best practices. Assist suppliers in improving their processes to meet quality standards.

Required Education and Experience Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment, working directly with vendors to resolve current or potential quality concerns.
  • Expertise in non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, and other problem-solving techniques.
  • ISO 9001 Certified Auditor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality management software.

Work Environment:

  • On-site position in Franklin, MA, working closely with production teams and management.
