Membership Platforms at Yahoo provide modern, secure identity offerings for consumers and businesses that interact with Yahoo systems. The Fraud Squad within Membership Platforms leverages big data and machine learning to keep our users safe using a combination of online and offline processes. We analyze dozens of passive and active signals to distinguish humans from bots and other bad actors. Our machine learning models drive security features in sign-in, account recovery, and more.

Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with user experience designers, product managers, and other talented engineers to deliver new features, enhancements, and bug fixes

  • Grow in a culture of learning through design discussions and code reviews

  • Develop using Java and Python languages and Github source control

  • Manipulate data through query languages using Jupyter notebook

  • Develop and foster strong relationships with developers on multiple engineering teams within the Yahoo Identity division to collaborate on experience development

  • Seek opportunities in our day-to-day workflow to improve quality and efficiency from ideation to deployment

  • Document processes and workflow in shareable documents for future reuse and adoption

  • Use your experience with a broad range of technology stacks, platforms and workflow tools to do your best, most efficient work and teach others to do the same

Minimum Qualifications:


  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related major, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years' development experience writing and reviewing code daily in a team environment

  • 3+ years experience in Java and/or Python software programming languages

  • Experience in data processing with distributed computing (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.)

  • Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques, and object-oriented programming

  • Demonstrated experience in shipping high quality products and services

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of experience working with big data

  • Experience with data science and machine learning

  • Familiarity with Web services and web technology stacks

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Provider services and tools including Terraform, Kubernetes, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and Google Cloud Storage

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
