SUMMARY: Uses a systematic approachto purchase raw materials and supplies required for manufacturing, as well as finished products needed to service customer requirements. The Demand Planner will review inventory levels, product demand and utilization to determine reorder levels that ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops a data-driven manufacturing schedule in collaboration with the Operations team that optimizes capacity planning and labor utilization.
Updates/revises production schedules as required in collaboration with management to accommodate necessary changes including but not limited to, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions
Purchases materials and supplies from established vendors/contractors
Assists the Supply Chain Manager to evaluate vendor/contractors quotes and services to optimize purchase spend.
Uses Lean Manufacturing principles in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager to collect information from various relevant activities that aid the inventory planning and management process
Monitors finished goods and materials inventories, tracks schedule attainment, reviews and communicates factors that could affect scheduling and inventory accuracy.
Provides Purchasing and Inventory Systems training as required to optimize company-wide cross-training objectives
Collaborates and coordinates with other functional areas of the organization as necessary to maintain effective procurement, scheduling, and inventory control.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School Diploma, Associate or College Degree preferred
2-5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related area
Keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and external contacts (Customer, Sister Company, Other departments, Suppliers)
Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
