The Quality Inspector conducts quality checks in the production facility to ensure that defined company standards are met, and product integrity is preserved.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs in-process inspections of molded parts (part size, weight, wall thickness, etc.)
Carries out specific measurement of products using equipment/tools (gauges, scales, calipers, etc.)
Records results on part-specific forms and reports findings to molding team
Assists in identifying root causes and corrective actions of minor molding issues
Follows inspection priorities set by QA Technicians and Supervisor
Performs CNC and Finishing first part approval inspections
Records results on part-specific forms and reports findings to CNC and Finishing teams
Communicates nonconformance to appropriate production, operations, or quality staff
Performs final inspections (Dock audits)
Records results on part-specific forms; Logs nonconformance findings in database
Identifies and communicates nonconformance found during final inspections
Explains quality requirements of parts to production employees, including interpretation of set up forms, inspection plans, and customer prints
Provides internal quality issue support
Provides assistance for nonconforming product identification, containment, and segregation
Identifies any gauges or measuring equipment requiring calibration or repair
Participates in 6S compliance and audits
Understands basic ISO procedures and practices
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Competency in basic math including decimals and fractions required
Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
Entry level experience in manufacturing required; Knowledge of manufacturing environment/processes
Entry level experience as a QA/QC Inspector required
Experience and competency using basic measurement tools such as calipers, tape measures, and weight scales required
Experience in plastics manufacturing preferred
Experience with ISO compliance preferred
Working Conditions
Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time.
This job is in a typical manufacturing environment, to include, but not limited to:
Ovens, torches, and rotating tools
Forklifts and other moving machinery
Loud work environment
