Job Description:

Responsible for procurement of all non-production items. Including, but not limited to, supplies, tools, components, spare parts, equipment and services used by Patch Rubber per properly approved requisition(s).

Position Responsibilities (Buyer):


  • Follow all documented processes and procedures that pertain to the job responsibilities
  • Determine best and most economical sources for requested items
  • Ensure pricing for items communicated to requestor in a timely manner
  • Ensure proper authorization provided for all purchases (based on authorization matrix)
  • Process purchase orders in PRMS ERP system
  • Determine appropriate carriers for inbound shipments
  • May be required to schedule pickup date/time of inbound items with carriers
  • Assist receiving with discrepancies on incoming items
  • Assist accounts payable with discrepancies on invoices
  • Provide status of inbound items to appropriate departments within the organization
  • Track and report total spend on capital projects (via spreadsheet)
  • Maintain files for purchasing documentation
  • Research and submit opportunities for cost savings on items (consumable items)

General Responsibilities:


  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs (including procurement of raw material or assisting in other departments if required)
  • Reports to work for scheduled shifts on time
  • Understands and follows all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Communicates openly, honestly and respectfully with all others in the organization
  • Takes the initiative to identify, report and resolve problems
  • Accepts direction willingly and follows through with delegated tasks
  • Maintains safe work environment and uses protective equipment as required

Desired Skills and Experience:


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as item drawings, schematics, item specifications, order confirmations, bills of lading, packing slips, and invoices
  • Advanced math skills required
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and multi task while maintaining focus and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform assigned functions effectively with minimum supervision
  • Position requires interaction with various departments within the Patch Rubber organization (heavy interaction with maintenance)
  • 3+ years prior experience in purchasing (MRO experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (strong Excel skills a plus)
  • Experience with PRMS ERP a plus
