A purchasing clerk is responsible for processing purchase orders by compiling information on needed goods and services, creating purchase orders, tracking their status, and ensuring timely delivery, typically working under the direction of a Supply Chain Manager, while maintaining accurate records of all purchasing activities within a company; key duties include reviewing purchase requisitions, contacting vendors for pricing, and verifying invoice accuracy against purchase orders

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Reviewing purchase requisitions:
  • Analyzing department needs and ensuring requests comply with company policies.
  • Vendor research:
  • Identifying and contacting potential suppliers to obtain pricing and product specifications.
  • Creating purchase orders:
  • Generating purchase orders with detailed item descriptions, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Order tracking:
  • Monitoring the status of purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Price negotiation:
  • Negotiating prices with vendors where appropriate.
  • Invoice verification:
  • Checking invoices against purchase orders for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Inventory management:
  • Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels to identify potential stock shortages.
  • Recordkeeping:
  • Filing and maintaining purchase order documents, vendor information, and other relevant records.
  • Communication:
  • Communicating with departments regarding purchase requests, delivery updates, and any issues with orders.

  • Attention to detail: Accurately processing purchase orders and ensuring correct information is entered.

  • Organizational skills: Managing multiple purchase orders and maintaining organized records.

  • Computer proficiency: Familiarity with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Communication skills: Effectively communicating with internal departments and external vendors.

  • Math skills: Calculating quantities, prices, and discounts.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • AA Degree in related field: (Preferred)

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $50,000
