About the Department



Equal Opportunity Programs (EOP), part of the Office of the Provost, has University-wide responsibility that includes coordinating compliance and programs in the areas of Equal Opportunity (EO), Affirmative Action (AA), unlawful discrimination and harassment prevention, accessibility, Veterans and Military-affiliated programs, and Title IX. To achieve its goals the EOP works closely with the Office of Legal Counsel, Human Resources, and Campus and Student Life in collaboration with academic and administrative leaders throughout the University. UChicago CARES, the Center for Awareness, Resolution, Education and Support, a part of EOP, works to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct in the University community.



Job Summary



The Support Services Coordinator, Response and Support Services / Deputy Title IX Coordinator UChicago CARES (The Center for Awareness, Resolution, Education and Support), is a full-time, 37.5 hours/week, administrative position reporting directly to the Director, Response and Support Services within UChicago CARES and indirectly to the Associate Provost for Equal Opportunity Programs/ Title IX Coordinator. The Support Services Coordinator will provide initial meetings with individuals impacted and coordinate supportive measures and referrals to internal and external resources for complaints of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct under the related University policies made against students, faculty, other academic appointees, postdoctoral researchers, and third-parties.



Responsibilities



  • Provides initial intake response and meet with individuals reporting incidents of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

  • Provides information regarding the availability of supportive measures, resources, and referrals to University resolution processes, as appropriate. For reports involving academics, conduct intakes, as needed, in coordination with Resolution Services, UChicago CARES.

  • Coordinates the implementation of supportive measures including issuing No Contact Directives, initiating contact with faculty regarding academic accommodations, or coordinating with the Deputy Title IX Coordinator regarding safety and support measures.

  • Takes detailed case notes and receives any additional information regarding incidents.

  • Provides ongoing case support, including follow-up with individuals and continued coordination of supportive measures, including communication with faculty regarding academic accommodations or coordination with other campus resources including Deans of Students, housing, dining, etc.

  • Assists in conducting analysis related to campus safety and possible hostile environment.

  • Utilizes case management databases to organize, manage, and track reports.

  • Ensures proper documentation and tracking of all incoming reports in coordination with other CARES team members.

  • Conducts and documents campus safety analysis on reports received.

  • Assists Director in the preparation of annual compliance reports and internal reports.

  • Plans and executes internal and external audits and activities to support regulatory agency inspections.

  • Prepares, completes and submits all compliance documentation on a routine basis. Coordinates compliance committee meetings.

  • Performs other related work as needed.




Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

  • Master's degree in related field.




Experience:



  • Providing services to individuals experiencing harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct.




Technical Skills or Knowledge:



  • Proficient in utilizing electronic case management systems, such as Maxient.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws in a higher education setting (e.g., Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA/Campus SaVE, FERPA, Clery).




Licenses and Certifications:



  • Training in Title IX certification programs.
