Senior Analyst - Retirement Programs



Reporting to Director - Benefits & Retirement


Location: Orange, CT


Work Type: Office


The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $92,185 to $115,232



    Position Summary:


    The Senior Analyst position will be a key component of our team and will be tasked with supporting the administration and operation of our qualified and non-qualified retirement benefit programs. This position is responsible for ensuring our plans are operationally compliant and administratively efficient, identifying and developing process improvements and best practices, and analyzing and implementing new initiatives. A successful candidate should have the ability to multi-task assignments and daily responsibilities with accuracy, meet required deadlines routinely, prioritize their workload efficiently, and be organized and focused on a consistent basis.



    Major Responsibilities:



    • Work closely with ERISA counsel, actuary, and consultants to ensure all retirement plans are compliant and strategic objectives are met

    • Help oversee administration and operation of all qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, including benefit payment administration, compliance notifications, and data maintenance/remediation

    • Collect, verify, reconcile, and provide data to external vendors and stakeholders as needed for computation of benefits, funding requirements, valuations, audits, and performance reporting

    • Collaborate with accounting, control, and financial reporting to ensure appropriate measurement, reporting, and disclosure of plan assets, liabilities, and funding levels

    • Compliance management, including internal control processing, audit testing, and review of annual financial statements and required filings (i.e., 5500, PBGC, 10-K)

    • Analyze, recommend, and implement benefit plan design changes and initiatives

    • Prepare cost analysis and other documentation to assist with union negotiations

    • Assist with drafting testimony for rate case filings and responding to interrogatories from internal regulatory team and external regulatory authorities

    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP's)

    • Manage vendor relationships (actuary, trustees, insurance providers, etc.)

    • Participate in ad hoc projects, as needed




    Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, or HR related field, plus at least 5 years' related experience working with retirement plans (pension experience a plus)

    • General understanding of benefit plan accounting rules (GAAP/IFRS), actuarial funding and accounting disclosure reports, and ERISA/DOL/IRS/PBGC compliance requirements

    • Experience with labor contract administration/negotiations, project management, and strategic planning

    • Demonstrated ability preparing reconciliations and complicated financial analyses

    • Experience documenting processes and controls along with the ability to leverage technology and resources to improve or simplify processes



    • Intermediate to Proficient Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

    • SAP experience preferred, but not required (specifically reporting capabilities)

    • Ability to establish effective working relationships with peers, vendors, and stakeholders

    • Excellent analytical, decision making, and critical thinking skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to prioritize tasks as needed, and complete multiple deliverables within established deadlines

    • Exceptional attention to detail

    • Experience working in a global organization with diverse workforce
