Job Description:

The Enterprise Data Governance Lead will be responsible for developing, formalizing, and championing an integrated, enterprise-wide data governance framework-focusing on policy creation, standardization, and enterprise-level adoption. This role will work closely with all business units, IT, and 3rd party partners to drive alignment on data governance policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. By ensuring the accuracy, consistency, security, and quality of enterprise data, the Enterprise Data Governance Lead will play a pivotal role in embedding a robust data culture across Weatherford and advancing the "data as a product" initiative.


Roles & Responsibilities


Data Governance Framework:

  • Develop and maintain the organization's data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures to ensure effective data management and compliance.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and establish accountability for data stewardship.
Policy Development and Oversight:
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data policies to ensure adoption, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align data policies with regulatory and enterprise requirements.
  • Regularly review and update data policies to address emerging challenges and technological advancements.
Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Collaborate with business units and IT teams to ensure alignment on data governance objectives and initiatives.
  • Lead the Data Governance Council or similar governing body, facilitating meetings and ensuring effective communication.
  • Collaborate with both technical and business Data Stewards to align efforts for ERP transformation projects.
Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOX) and internal policies related to data privacy and security.
  • Assess risks associated with data management and develop mitigation strategies.
Technology and Tools:
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to support data governance, such as data cataloging, data lineage, and data quality solutions.
  • Work with IT to integrate data governance tools into the organization's data ecosystem.
Training and Awareness:
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about data governance principles, policies, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of data ownership and accountability across the organization.
Performance Metrics:
  • Define and track KPIs & MoC's for adoption of data governance initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on the status and outcomes of data governance efforts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 8+ years' experience in IT within one or more specific technical domains; preferred domain are Data Governance, MDM or Analytics.
  • Bachelor's from an accredited university in in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and data governance initiatives.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, SOX, and industry standards like ISO 55001 and ISO/IEC 27001.
  • Proficiency with data governance tools (e.g., Oracle, Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and data quality solutions.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP implementation projects is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and drive change across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED

  • Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DAMA-DMBOK, Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) in Data Governance, Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) or similar are preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle EDQ, ODI, FAW, OAC is a plus.
  • Experience with design and deployment of Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics services
  • Recent design and implementation experience with cloud-based data analytics platform services
  • Experience with data modelling
  • Experience building dashboards in any of the data visualization tools.

Travel Requirement:

  • This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to: 10-25%
