Responsible for building deep long-term relationships with Columbia Threadneedle's top tier and most complex institutional clients in North America. Ensure that clients have tremendous confidence and trust in our people, intellectual capital, investment processes, ownership structure, risk management, reporting and overall quality of services. Leverage strong existing personal relationships in the Institutional investor community to maintain and grow the firm's AUM. Potentially take on some direct prospecting responsibilities in addition to working with existing clients.
Key Responsibilities:
(35%) Deepen our relationships with the firm's top tier and most complex clients; become a trusted advisor to the clients on all matters related to their relationship with the firm and their overall investment goals. Clients will likely include a wide range of institutional investor types (e.g. Corporate and Public Pensions, Endowments & Foundations, Corporate Cash clients, etc). Maintain a thorough understanding of the unique needs of each client and the trends affecting each client segment. Provide leadership with the goal of delivering high quality services and retaining revenue and AUM, while also aggressively seeking opportunities to expand our client relationships. Build deep relationships with colleagues across the firm, with a particular focus on getting to know the various investment teams.
(25%) Lead in-person client meetings, portfolio reviews and Board Meetings with clients and their consultants. Spearhead the entire meeting process from planning to post-meeting follow-up, ensuring that all participants from the firm are properly prepared for the engagement and aware of the desired outcomes. Partner with internal colleagues to ensure that all meeting logistics are handled seamlessly. Conduct informal off-cycle meetings in order to build deeper personal connections with staff at the firm's key clients. Meet pre-determined meeting targets, which will include targets for meetings that focus on topics beyond the existing mandate(s). Travel is required.
(25%) Broaden existing relationships through solutions-based cross-sales in partnership with our sales and consultant relations teams. Meet pre-determined cross-sell targets annually, which will based on the book of business and tenure in the role. Maintain a detailed knowledge of the firm's focus strategies and initiatives along with all policies and procedures relating to client facing personnel. Educate clients about Columbia Threadneedle's strengths and capabilities. Introduce the firm's senior leaders to top-tier clients in order to strengthen client relationship and broaden the knowledge of the firm. Potentially take on responsibility for direct prospecting for certain market segments.
(10%) Partner with internal colleagues on the onboarding of new clients and in resolving operational issues. Engage with multiple business units including: operations, client reporting, compliance, legal, sales, and portfolio management to ensure that we are delivering an outstanding experience to our clients.
(5%) Manage strategic projects for the team to enhance our overall value proposition for existing and potential clients.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years' experience in an institutional relationship management capacity.
In-depth knowledge of investments
Demonstrated ability to develop deep, long-lasting client relationships
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally within the firm to achieve results
Strong personal network of senior contacts in the North American Institutional plan sponsor community
Experience managing top tier client relationships with a proven track record of expanding those relationships with cross-sells and top-ups as well as direct sales experience

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $175,000 / year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that support all aspects of your health and well-being.
