Overview

The starting salary range for this position is $30.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

Under the direct supervision of Dr. Noe Crespo, this position is expected to carry out intervention services required by projects. These tasks include but are not limited to designing intervention measures, coordinating and leading research activities related to intervention, research and assessment, redefining existing measures and writing and developing intervention protocols while ensuring to abide by existing procedures and protocols. The primary research focus is on developing, implementing and evaluating health promotion strategies and intervention activities to aid in the understanding on how to prevent chronic diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer) and infectious diseases (e.g., COVID-19). These various projects are supported by various staff members and by project investigators.

This position will hold a supervisory role for intervention implementation and measurement consisting of a small group of students, Graduate Students and Research Assistants. This is a higher level position for incumbents who have specialized skills in the field of public health and disease prevention. A strong understanding of intervention planning and implementation will be needed as well as skills in staff training, stakeholder collaboration, data analysis, and progress monitoring. The Intervention Coordinator will supervise staff and work closely with Principal Investigators, Project Managers and study teams.



Responsibilities

The Intervention Coordinator - Research Specialist II is responsible for but not limited to:

Intervention Planning, Implementation and Analysis 80%

  • Staff supervision
  • Work closely with supervisors and Principal Investigators for intervention planning and implementation
  • Design and oversee intervention activities
  • Ensure implementation accuracy and completeness
  • Track intervention progress through data collection and analysis
  • Organize intervention data
  • Create intervention data reports as requested
  • Design and implement intervention training process
  • Develop staff training protocols, guides and certification plans
  • Develop intervention logs as needed
  • Design equipment check logs and report any issues to the supervisor
  • Complete group and individual booster training sessions
  • Develop materials for booster training sessions
  • Create group and individualized training/learning plans as needed
  • Collaborate with study group to modify the design and implementation of intervention activities
  • Adjust intervention as needed or requested to ensure optimal implementation
  • Assist intervention sessions as needed
  • Guide and support staff, students and interns in intervention activities
  • Follow existing processes, systems and procedures
  • Help maintain secure databases and systems

Other Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned 20%

  • Coordinate with outside agency and community stakeholders as needed
  • Work with cross-functional teams
  • Assist the Data Manager with study report preparation
  • Assist with Institutional Review Board submissions and amendments
  • Participate in study team meetings
  • Work alongside project managers and/or coordinators to develop standard training practices including but not limited to manuals, video demonstrations, and presentations
  • Recommend curriculum updates


Qualifications



Experience/Education

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four year university
  • Two years of experience in technical research or statistical work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Masters degree in a health-related field (e.g. public health, health sciences, psychology etc.)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Previous experience conducting community-based research with Hispanic/Latino populations

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection processes
  • Knowledge of technical writings to include data reports, manuscripts and grants
  • Ability to provide training to student employees and interns
  • Ability to report data by using G-Suite, MS office Word and Excel
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis (SPSS)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage measurement supplies and materials
  • Ability to meet deadlines, display detail orientation, possess good judgment and common sense
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers
  • Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
  • Ability to relate well to others within the project environment
  • Ability to display motivation and strong interpersonal skills
