Technical knowledge of equipment and procedures are kept current. Applies knowledge to daily activities for age group for which services are being provided. (Adult, Geriatric, Pediatric, Neonatal). Functions independently and competently.
Operates Cardiac Stress Testing equipment with competency and accuracy, providing good quality data. Performs nuclear medicine and pharmacological stress testing assuring quality data.
Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the operation of the cardiology data system.
Performs routine and emergency EKG and Signal Average ECG’s according to procedure. Downloads, collates, prepares for physician interpretation; transcribes physician interpretations into database system, and processes confirmed reports. Demonstrates basic understanding of EKG configuration and rhythm recognition.
At LEH, may need demonstrated knowledge and expertise in bedside pulmonary function testing to include pre and post bronchodilator spirometry.
Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in Holter monitor set up and instruction to patients per physician order, assuring high quality tracings.
At GSH may perform Holter monitor scanning and report generation.
Performs Cardiac Event Monitor set up and instruction to patients per physician order, assuring high quality transmissions of event data.
Performs newborn and infant hearing screenings utilizing standard infant hearing screening technology.
Systematically identifies newborns within the Legacy Health System to allow for screening prior to discharge. Monitors and tracks initial screening failures for follow-up testing. Documents completion of screening in patient chart.
Participates in in-service and professional educational activities as appropriate.
Identifies CQI problems and reports to team and supervising audiologist(s); maintains quality indicator data.
Provides clerical reception duties as required.
Identifies needs, par levels and orders all necessary supplies for CPS department.
Performs other responsibilities.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum of one year non-invasive medical diagnostic testing experience preferred. Current coursework in cardiology and pulmonary laboratory testing as a student in a Respiratory Therapy training program preferred.
