This position is on-site in Fife, WA

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing/engineering methods and processes. Provide input, maintenance and training on processes regarding manufacturing systems like MRP, MPS and PLM software. This position combines elements of manufacturing and engineering disciplines used to support an operations organization. Perform all aspects of manufacturing and project engineering from identification of opportunity through implementation, start up and on-going support of process improvement. This position will also be responsible for leading many continuous improvement / Lean initiatives to improve plant KPIs.

Primary Accountabilities:


  • Analyze, improve and implement improved manufacturing methods.
  • Perform work simplification studies (flow analysis and value analysis) on assembly lines to improve labor efficiencies and material utilization.
  • Facilitate and lead teams on continuous improvement projects through lean manufacturing, process control, automation, and quality assurance.
  • Develop process improvements for fabrication, assembly, and packaging. Provide on-going technical support for new and existing manufacturing systems.
  • Participate in the development of new products by providing guidance on manufacturing processes to a multi-discipline team of engineering, operations, sales, and marketing.
  • Maintain SOP and quality documentation as it relates to engineering and manufacturing projects assigned.
  • Travel to other manufacturing facilities on an as needed basis, sometimes for extended periods for major projects.
  • Draft and submit capital appropriation requests for new equipment and processes to support implementation of the capital plan for the business.
  • Maintain and control the ECN/ECR process by preparing and updating product information, material specifications, and operational systems for all products and processes in the manufacturing process.
  • Develop, maintain, implement and utilize the companies MRP system by continually improving the accuracy of data and information. Provide support and expertise on MRP, RF and advanced technologies to members of the manufacturing staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Accountabilities:

  • Support the Operations Leadership team by cross training in production scheduling, data management, and scheduling of trucks in order to help cover for vacations.
  • Assist with the creation of new part numbers and work centers as part of new product launches.
  • Assist with SAP implementation for the operations team.
  • Provide support as needed for new systems being implemented such as Preventative Maintenance, Parsable, and EHS systems.

Education/Experience: (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

  • Bachelor's degree in either Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years' of engineering experience in Sheet metal or plastic products.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban and 5S preferred.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to retrieve, print, store, analyze, and comprehend data in electronic form. Work effectively with CAD systems to convert physical parts and/or conceptual designs into electronic 2D & 3D models and designs. Ability to work with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and maintenance/shop floor specific software.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75k/yr-$95k/yr.
