About the Role:
We are seeking an FP&A Manager who will be responsible for the District’s budget and cost accounting function. This position supervises a team of seven analysts in the daily handling of processes related to budgeting, cost accounting and financial analysis to assist leadership in planning, reporting and forecasting financial information. This position is hybrid and based in Dallas, TX.
You Will:
Provide oversight of the District's budgeting and forecasting processes
Provide oversight of cost accounting compliance activities for the District
Manage, train, and motivate employees in delivering high quality results on routine and complex work
Assist staff in applying more advanced financial analysis and/or cost accounting principles, practices, and techniques; preparing capital and operating budgets; and performing financial analysis resulting in written and oral reports to support strategic decision making and/or best utilize available budget for the organization’s strategy
Prepare reports requested by upper management including but not limited to financial analysis, audit responses, compliance reports, and others as assigned
Adapt team plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
Develop engaging, informative, and well-organized briefing materials and presentations for management, support teams, and FRS governance bodies, as requested
Routinely serve on District and System-level projects and initiatives
Partner with key internal stakeholders such as Finance Business Partners and People & Culture to improve forecasts and meet customer needs
Direct and monitor activities of all direct reports by assigning tasks, prioritizing work efforts, reviewing/signing off on completed work, evaluating performance and providing feedback
Identify improvement areas and oversee implementation of improvements for the team
Be accountable for the performance and results of the team
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of professional experience in a financial planning or related field
Specific knowledge and in-depth understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, corporate governance and process improvement
Interpersonal skills to guide, influence and persuade others with the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with subordinates and all levels of management
Ability to take initiative and problem solve with minimum direction
Strong communication skills (presentation, verbal, written)
Strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
Team oriented mindset with the ability to focus on the details and the “big picture”
