Job Description Summary



This position is an expert in creating, reviewing, updating, and approving label copy and artwork designs in multiple food categories to ensure information is accurate, meets customer requirements and is compliant with government regulations and Lamb Weston policy. This person will collaboratively work across functions and is expected to communicate with all functional groups on matters relating to product labeling and compliance. This person will participate in addressing regulatory labeling issues that arise across the company, providing guidance and direction on applicable regulations or industry standards. This position supports the Labeling Manger with category-specific oversight including labeling-related guidance and communication with the cross-functional team.



Job Description




Position Responsibilities:



  • Provide food labeling expertise and guidance to internal customers. Collaborate cross functionally with Legal, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Purchasing, plants and others to leverage regulations, support positions and ensure compliance in the marketplace.

  • Responsible for the development of label copy which includes product name, weight statement, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, nutrition facts panel and claims which meet government requirements and standard of identities. This includes ensuring compliance with all label related health and wellness claims.

  • Approval of label artwork upon review, ensuring compliance to all applicable USDA, FDA, and other governing group's regulations. Support review of labels and printed packaging by Regulatory and Legal Counsel.

  • Ensure accuracy in the development of the Label Copy and support of all product claims, and that information for use in labeling is accurate and properly presented.

  • Contribute to the development of labeling personnel in the areas of regulatory compliance, collaboration, planning, communication, and accountability.

  • Support a culture of quality throughout the organization. Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase accuracy, improve efficiency, and drive standardization of labeling practices.

  • Actively participate in improving labeling systems and processes to help with consistency and agility including maintenance updates of database systems.

  • Contribute to research and recommendations for issue positions as it relates to labeling and regulatory. Assist in development of internal policies and procedures in collaboration with team management on labeling and claim support standards; identify and advance nutrition and regulatory strategies for business growth. Participate in providing training regarding new/changed labeling regulations and trends that may impact customer or branded labels.

  • Manage processes within Regulatory Affairs, to improve efficiency and drive standardization across categories.

  • Supervises other Regulatory Affairs Specialists, to ensure consistency in labeling policies and procedures.

  • Manages communication of country specific (domestic and global) compliance and trade updates to cross-functional teams.

  • Identifies and communicates regulatory concerns and develops compliance strategies, to instruct cross functional teams of upcoming regulatory regulations.

  • Assess regulations to determine compliance-related priorities in the marketplace.

  • Provide guidance with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance for our international and domestic markets.

  • Explore process improvements initiatives with cross-functional teams.

  • Leads training regarding new/changed regulations and trends impacting customer or branded labels.

  • Manage customer inquiries regarding regulatory support and labeling.

  • Supervise all ingredients for potential compliance and labeling concerns for international markets.

  • Assess all products and product labels for international compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with all product claims for both domestic and international markets.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase accuracy, improve efficiency, and drive standardization of regulatory compliance practices.

  • Maintain updates to database systems for regulatory compliance and labeling teams.

  • Join in process improvements initiatives with cross-functional teams.

  • Leads training regarding new/changed regulations and trends impacting customer or branded labels.

  • Leads the process to answer customer inquiries regarding regulatory support and labeling.

  • Examine all ingredients for potential compliance and labeling concerns for international markets.

  • Review all products and product labels for international compliance.

  • They are responsible for coordinating and maintaining all aspects of the FDA regulatory labeling requirements, while also providing regulatory and labeling compliance for all our international markets.

  • exhibits extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and labeling responsibilities.




Basic & Preferred Qualifications




Qualifications and Requirements:



  • 10+ years of food industry labeling experience or comparable experience

  • Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA food label regulations and documentation requirements

  • Ability to work with multiple database systems and network efficiently to get information required to complete tasks

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong report and technical writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to manage projects and time effectively

  • Detail oriented and self-motivator

  • Excellent relationship and development skills

  • Strong Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, and various virtual meeting platforms




Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) - Type: Food Science, Nutrition or related field




Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:



• General office positions may require some lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting.


• Extensive use of computer


• Travel may be required up to 10%; must be able to obtain necessary travel documents.

A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $81,620.00 - $122,430.00
