Areas of focus for the Director will include client engagement focused on housing, economics, and redevelopment including policy, analysis, strategy, program development, and real estate advisory to help cities increase supply of affordable housing, equitable economic development, redevelopment, and community equity in growth.


In this role you will:


  • Contribute to client capacities and strategic activities related to community/city development with particular focus on the housing and social equity, with related dynamics including transportation, economic development, revitalization, and community sustainability.


  • Pursue and lead client engagements. This includes advancement of the practice area and service line development. Assist Development and Community Advisory team leaders in advancing subject matter expertise activities with key intersecting policy areas.


  • Lead internal and external project teams, independently and strategically to advance project opportunities, implement timelines and develop recommendations for project content.


  • Contribute in client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.


  • Lead in the development and implementation of techniques and best practices in areas of subject matter expertise including in programs, action plans, and policies regarding affordable housing, economic development, community development, redevelopment, and equitable development activities.


  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external industry leaders - including community/public agencies, housing finance/transaction institutions, nonprofit organizations, private lenders, developers, and other units of government.


  • Continue to develop knowledge and experience working with a variety of technology environments, platforms, applications, and tools/utilities.


  • Attend professional development, networking events and training seminars on a regular basis. Adhering to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.




Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of real estate, housing, city planning and redevelopment is usually attained through a degree in urban planning, real estate, public administration, or a related field.


  • Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible related experience. Experience as a client serving professional for a consulting firm desired.


  • Thorough knowledge of modern principles, procedures and practices of real estate development, urban planning, land use, and zoning, in particular the role of housing in economic and community development.


  • General knowledge of the role and history of real estate, housing, planning and city development in racial inequality, and restorative approaches to pursuing equity.


  • General knowledge of the real estate market, finance fundamentals, and financial tools used in development and redevelopment.


  • Graduate degree in urban planning, public policy, real estate or a related field.


  • Demonstrated ability to community clearly and persuasively to build strong internal and external working relationships; accessible, approachable, assertive, goal-oriented and at ease with leadership, public speaking as well as a clear and concise writer.


  • Growth mindset with strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to engage people, create and manage networks, and contribute as an essential member of a dynamic team.


  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.


  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication, collaboration, and time management skills.


  • Ability to multi-task, work well independently in a fast-paced environment.


  • Motivation to work extended hours and travel as needed to meet the needs of clients and growth of the national practice.





The compensation range for this role is $215,950 to $467,880 . Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
