Position Summary

As the Director of Business Affairs, you will play a crucial role in driving creative and brand success while safeguarding the interests of the enterprise. You will develop processes, templates, and a cohesive team to enhance our creative and production operations. Leveraging your expertise in production and advertising, strong business acumen, and evolving understanding of Walmart's platforms and initiatives, you will contribute to a forward-thinking Business Affairs team that leads in production innovation.


The Business Affairs function is newly established at WCS, and we are seeking a candidate eager to make a significant impact. You will help us enhance our best-in-class offerings and risk-proof our production processes and guidelines. With an entrepreneurial spirit, you will tackle the complexities of business and strategic challenges head-on.


The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion and expertise in broadcast, livestreaming, activations, social media, digital content, creative production, marketing and advertising law, and entertainment development deals. You will have experience collaborating with advertising agencies, media companies, publishers, networks, and production houses, along with a solid understanding of diverse content execution strategies. Additionally, you will be adept at navigating the complexities that generative AI tools introduce to the content creation landscape. Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners: Finance, Procurement, Marketing Legal, Agency Relations, Media, Creative and Marketing leads.
• Analyze deal opportunities and formulate business strategies with respect to talent and production matters.
• Maintain relationships with key agencies, managers and attorneys in the entertainment community.
• Regulatory compliance: monitor industry regulations and legal requirements relevant to advertising and marketing practices, advising the team on compliance matters.
• Conduct production audits, analyze and provide recommendations.
• Advise and set operational standards and guidelines for AI tools for creative and production workstreams.
• Identify potential risks in marketing and advertising strategies, developing mitigation plans and ensuring that all campaigns adhere to internal policies and guidelines.
• Deep working expertise around music licensing, including relationships with rights holders, is preferred.
• Expert-level ability to manage urgent deadlines and a variety of tasks while remaining solution oriented and have a keen attention to detail.
• Collaborative, momentum creator who's always learning and is keen to drive positive outcomes via strategic problem solving.
• Experience and comfort working in a highly creative, flexible and nimble environment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver timely, effective and strategic business affairs advice that is current with the evolving legal and regulatory expectations.
• Established ability to independently manage medium to high complexity matters, including issues of first impression.
• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management regarding business affairs activities and compliance issues.
• Lead and mentor a team of business affairs professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• 15+ years of experience in business affairs, legal or compliance roles within the advertising and marketing industry with a successful track record of negotiating, drafting and closing deals (with a preference for a combination of experience at both a top, creative-driven agency and in-house with a leading company, content production team and/or entertainment/brand licensing.
• Strong understanding of advertising laws, regulations and industry standards.
• Proven track record of negotiating contracts and managing complex agreements.
• Experience with social networking, platform integrations, publishing platforms, broadcast & new media.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to think strategically and provide sound business advice while balancing creative needs.
• Knowledge of digital marketing, media buying and production processes.
• Experienced with union and non-union productions (SAG/AFTRA, IATSE), branded partnerships, interactive and/or social landscapes is required.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

• Experience pursuing emerging technologies
• Future-first mindset, and experience creating in new platforms. This may include, but is not limited to: augmented, virtual or mixed reality, gaming, Web3, Ai, avatars, etc

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00-$264,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
