Job Description

LOCATION: 6055 Sunol Blvd, Building C Pleasanton, CA 94566
TITLE: Scientist II, Chemistry
HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
DUTIES: • Work in the laboratory on synthesis of oligonucleotides on DNA synthesizer (primers, PCR probes, and LNA/L-DNA hybrid oligos)
• Develop and optimize methods for manual dye labeling of oligonucleotides (NHS ester chemistry, and click chemistry)
• Carry out characterization, purification and analysis of oligonucleotides with HPLC, LC-MS and UV VIS spectrometer
• Write protocols and reports, present data, interact with scientists from other groups
• Conduct oligo synthesis, purification, analysis and quality control
• Work independently and collaboratively on R&D projects related to oligonucleotide constructs (oligo coupling efficiency improvement, novel amidite coupling test, and new dye stability study).
• Work with organic chemist colleagues to test new dyes
• Solve oligo synthesis and HPLC purification problems
• Attend group and collaboration meetings, and present data and project progress
REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field of study.
MINIMUM Experience Requirement: 2 years of experience as a Research Associate, Researcher, or a related occupation.
Alternative Education and Experience Requirement: Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field of study and 1 year of experience as a Research Associate, Researcher, or a related occupation.
Required knowledge or experience with:
• Oligo and organic chemistry;
• ChemDraw, Dr. Oligo 48, or Agilent ChemStation
• Troubleshoot chemistry lab issues;
• Operation of DNA synthesizer;
• Synthesis, purification and quality control of oligos;
• Operation of HPLC and UV-VIS spectrometer;
• Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and;
• Standard operating procedures (SOPs) technical plans and reports;
Salary: $104915 to $114500 per year

Compensation and Benefits
The salary pay range estimated for this position Scientist II, Chemistry based inCalifornia is $104,915.00-$114,500.00.
