Marching Band Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty PositionMusic - Fall 2025
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Music at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position teaching marching band beginning Fall 2025. The department seeks candidates with proven success and experience in leading and teaching marching band. This includes being able to teach drill, implement student leadership experiences, and working with students from varied life experienced backgrounds. Other duties will be assigned according to departmental needs.
Minimum requirements include earned doctoral degree in Music, Music Performance, Music Education, or a related music field, or ABD with terminal degree in hand by December 31, 2026. Evidence of successful teaching experience appropriate to the responsibilities of the position is also required (teaching college marching band/drum corps/larger high school marching band).
Preference may be given to those with experience in any of the following areas: wind instrument applied studio teaching, music education methods, composition and arranging, music technology, and/or a record of recruiting students from a wide variety of backgrounds. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, faculty performance review and evaluation is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities, continuing scholarly growth, and service.
A candidate is required to successfully complete the interview process including demonstration of teaching, conducting, and rehearsing.
