The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level, and will work closely with senior management both in the HR department as well as site leadership. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, recruiting and onboarding, policy administration, and other areas necessary. The HR Generalist must thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing shifting priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other Duties may be assigned.
Recruiting and Onboarding: hands-on activities including job description development, job posting, applicant screening, interview set up and coordination including travel arrangements for candidates who may require travel to a company site. Full new employee onboarding to include activities required prior to employment start, orientation to new site/people/protocols, and compliance matters related to new employees.
Payroll and Benefits: hands-on administration of employee pay and benefits through the HRIS and applicable enrollment processes. Consults with employees to assist with understanding of benefit plans offered by the company. Participates in audit activities to ensure compliance. Manages employee personnel and benefit files.
Employee Relations: fields employee questions and concerns and helps find solutions either directly or through involvement with appropriate members of management. Communicates work policies and procedures including training of such. Models expected professionalism of employees of the company.
Compliance: stays abreast of all federal, state, and local regulations and will be responsible for site specific reports and filings to various agencies for worker's compensation, unemployment, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
2-5 years experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
2-5 years leadership experience handling human resource issues may be substituted for a prior human resources role
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and act as a trusted advisor to both employees and management
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and attention to detail is required
Ability to handle sensitive issues, resolve conflicts, and provide practical solutions to employee concerns
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate initiative in addressing HR needs within the organization
Preferred Qualifications and/or Certifications
HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR or similar credentials are preferred
Experience in training is beneficial
