SA-TECH supports the U.S. Army Sustainment Command's Enhance Army Global Logistics Enterprise Logistics Support Services at Schofield Barracks and Pohakuloa Training Area, HI. We provide maintenance services in the form of above-brigade-level, field, sustainment, and limited depot-level maintenance support as well as transportation counseling services and handling passenger, equipment, and cargo movements for Army Field Support Battalion Hawaii's (AFSBn-HAW) assigned tactical units and government affiliated civilian agencies.
At Schofield Barracks, HI, SA-TECH is seeking to hire a Maintenance Inspector for the Modernization Displacement Repair Site (MDRS) to ensure that military vehicles and equipment meet operational and safety standards throughout the redistribution, disposal, or reallocation processes.
The Maintenance Inspector at an MDRS location plays a critical role in supporting Army supply chain operations by ensuring that tactical vehicles are properly evaluated, repaired, or processed for disposal. This work ensures that serviceable equipment is made available to units in need while unserviceable assets are responsibly demilitarized. With a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency, the inspector directly supports Army readiness and operational effectiveness.
Primary duties include (but are not limited to):
Conducts detailed technical inspections to assess the condition, serviceability, and readiness of tactical vehicles, including trucks, armored vehicles, and support equipment, as they pass through the MDRS.
Performs initial evaluations upon vehicle induction to determine repair requirements, serviceability, or classification for disposal, utilizing technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and expertise to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and provides recommendations for necessary repairs or adjustments.
Oversee and verify maintenance and repair work performed by assigned technicians, ensuring compliance with Army Technical Manuals (TMs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Collaborates closely with supply technicians, mechanics, and unit leaders to prioritize vehicle processing in alignment with site objectives.
Ensures all vehicles meet safety and operational standards before being reassigned, redistributed, or demilitarized.
Maintains accurate records of inspections, repair actions, and final condition assessments in accordance with Army documentation requirements.
Works under general supervision to perform assignments after priorities and pertinent policy matters have been given.
Follows established guidelines and regulations and in a shop situation, a supervisor is available to assist with unusual problems.
Works independently and makes decisions regarding a wide range of matters that involve subjective judgments.
Work Conditions:
Work may be performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods.
There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions.
Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting.
Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment.
Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of Federal and State transportation regulations.
Comfortable reading and interpreting Army Technical Manuals (TMs) and Standard Operating Procedures.
Previous related experience inspecting maintenance procedures and programs required.
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and timely completion of paperwork.
Must have the ability to independently analyze requirements and understand them to be able to make subjective decisions that impact processes, safety and mission goals.
Relocation assistance is not provided and candidates must reside within commuting distance or indicate a willingness to relocate at their own expense.
Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
