The Economic Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking an exceptional Product Owner.

About Us: The Economic Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is known as one of the world's premier economic research institutions. We provide economic data and information to the public through products such as FRED, FRASER, and Econ Lowdown, helping people to make more informed decisions.

About You: The Product Owner will be responsible for helping to develop and executing the product vision for Research applications like FRED and FRASER, using the agile framework. This includes duties such as backlog management, story writing, and leading the agile team in executing the work. The role also involves collaborating with the Product Manager to develop a product vision, execute the vision, and measure and validate its success.

Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Product Manager to develop product visions.

  • Translate business needs into actionable product roadmaps that align with broader business and IT strategies and execute the roadmap through an agile framework.

  • Leverage customer feedback, operational metrics, and analysis to identify market needs and shape product offerings.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and align strategies with measurable outcomes.

  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand user needs, identify gaps, and propose new opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timely delivery within agile sprints and increments.

  • Lead the interpretation of business requirements and collaborate with team members and stakeholders to define and refine detailed product requirements.

  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies and increment planning.

  • Write clear, actionable user stories that capture the essence of business needs and technical feasibility.

  • Write clear, concise product documentation.

  • Oversee testing efforts to ensure products meet business requirements and deliver a high-quality user experience.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience as a product owner

  • Ability to manage numerous programs and work processes simultaneously

  • Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment utilizing scrum methodologies and agile tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences

  • Discipline to operate independently and thrive in ambiguity with a generalist mindset

  • Curiosity and problem-solving skills using creative and critical thinking

  • Agile or Scrum certification (preferred)

  • GitLab and JIRA experience (preferred)

  • Candidates with less experience may be considered at a lower grade and salary.

Salary: $99,000 - $104,000
