Brown Industrial Construction is a South East Louisiana Based Heavy Civil Contractor Focusing Primarily On Clearing and Grubbing, Excavation, Drainage Infrastructure, Materials Placement, Soil Stabilization, Deep Foundations, & Civil Concrete work. We are seeking experienced Form Carpenters to join our growing team.
Job Responsibilities & Related Skills:
• Performs job functions in person at construction jobsites.
• Utilizes hand signals for communicating with the Crane Operator
• Assists in unloading and assembling of crane and pile driving equipment (hammer, leads, etc.) to be used in pile driving activities.
• Unload and handle various types of piling (concrete, pipe, H-pile, timber, and sheet piling)
• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones (roadway flagging)
• Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools (maintenance)
• Experience and ability to work in a variety of constructions settings such Heavy Highway & Bridges and Industrial constructing various pile activities such as shoring, building foundations, and structural (bridge) foundations.
• Ability to drive various types of pile including concrete, H-pile, timber, & sheet pile.
• Experience with rigging heavy loads using slings, cable chokers, spreader bars, and multi-part load blocks.
• Experience using oxygen/acetylene cutting torch to cut steel plates, pipes, beams, etc.
• Experience welding/fabricating templates.
• Experience with rigging heavy loads, welding and safety.
• Ability to operate Assist Equipment such as skid steers, rubber tire back hoes, excavators, and the like.
• Experience working on and performing daily inspections and maintenance on Assist Equipment.
• Performs pre and post inspections and performs minor maintenance of the equipment.
• Performs assignments as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
• Be a team player, with a willingness to assist in a variety of roles on the site.
• Performs general labor duties when necessary, involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
• Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
