Job Description

The Civil Supervisor has the knowledge & ability to coordinate & oversee personnel, equipment, materials, subcontractors & schedules as they build Civil Construction Projects. The Civil Supervisor reports to the Site Superintendent or Construction Manager, & coordinates with EHS, Survey, & QAQC departments. The Civil Supervisor manages projects schedules & budgets, reads blueprints, performs advanced layout, & coordinates work plans while directing crews that build & set forms, layout anchor bolts, tie rebar, build scaffolding, perform finish carpentry work, set screeds, & place/finish concrete in order to complete Civil Concrete Work Packages. The Civil Supervisor will manage projects from Lake Charles to New Orleans.


Responsibilities

General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Train, manage, motivate, and evaluate staff to ensure maximum safety, effectiveness, quality work, and professional development
  • Ensure health and safety is prioritized by your team and a culture of positivity is cultivated and maintained
  • Plan, manage and coordinate accurate and quality completion of all projects
  • Develop and communicate production goals and specifications to your team and other constituents to maximize worker effectiveness, adherence to schedule and maintenance of profitability goals
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent communication with other superintendents, project foremen, and project construction teams to achieve project goals
  • Evaluate, manage, and procure equipment and materials for construction projects
  • Provide oversight regarding manpower and equipment scheduling, dispatch, and equipment transportation
  • Ensure safety and quality programs, as dictated by the company and regulatory agencies, are strictly adhered to for preserving personnel, equipment, and the job site
  • Managing timecards, equipment tracking, and production reporting on your projects.


Requirements & Competencies

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in civil construction with a minimum of 3 of those years being in a supervisory/management role
  • CPR, First Aid, Competent Person Training (Trench Safety & Fall Protection), and power actuated tool training
  • TWIC and OSHA 30 certification
  • Proficient in reading and analyzing construction plans and specifications; scheduling, cost and quality control practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated team player and excellent problem solver
  • Ability to thrive and multi-task in fast-paced, changing environment.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
