Schneider Electric accelerates the deployment of Additive Manufacturing technology. You will be part of the Center of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing for the deployment of this technology.

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer is responsible for utilizing additive manufacturing technology to design mechanical and electrical parts to meet or exceed design specs. This includes developing 3D models for printing, supporting the labs through printing and project communications. The successful candidate is able to design for additive manufacturing or conventional methods to Schneider Electric design standards.

What will you do?


  • Collaborate with product squads to support product development projects with AM design work.

  • Create 3D models for printing of parts and support the execution with the lab resources.

  • Support the develop and delivery of training materials for internal design teams to support Additive manufacturing integration.

  • Share best practices across Hubs

  • Performs analysis to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components to meet internal & external customer requirements.

  • Ensure new design options are designed for manufacturability.

  • Maintains an up-to-date, thorough knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal codes/regulations and interprets and applies industry standards (UL, ANSI, NEC) to new designs.


Requirements:

  • Proficient in Creo or comparable CAD software

  • Experience with design and producing parts with 3D printers

  • Schneider electric product knowledge or electromechanical design experience

  • Excellent communication skills for conducting technical presentations and training sessions.

  • Candidate must be energetic, a self-starter, and be able to work effectively with little supervision and on multiple projects at a time.

  • Expected travel will be around 20% depending on project work.

  • AGILE Methodology knowledge and experience is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work successfully in a multicultural virtual environment across various functions (design engineering, purchasing, quality, marketing, finance, manufacturing operations and others).

  • Proven ability to influence and convince through negotiation.

  • Basic experience in Product Testing and Evaluation Methods (UL/ CSA/NOM/ IEC/ CCC/ ANSI).

  • Circuit Breaker design experience is a plus (MCCB and ACB).

  • Knowledge of CAE (Ex, Structural, Thermal, Kinematics, etc) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of first principles of Physics and Engineering Practice.

  • Familiar with metal stamping, thermoset and thermoplastic molding processes.

  • Familiar with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly techniques.


• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electro mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Additive Manufacturing or related technical support roles.
• Strong understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
