Shipping Clerk - 1st
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This incumbent performs a variety of duties to support shipping department to assure on- time shipments. Creates shipping documentation, bills-of-lading, etc. This incumbent must work in concert with internal and external customers, such as, the shipping department, casing, scheduling, trucking lines, customer service and the final customer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates shipping documentation including bills of lading, and export paperwork. (NAFTA Certs)
Works closely with Logistics providers to assure on-time shipments.
May be required to back up to Freight Coordinator by keying in routing request in customer website for collect customers.
Print and distribute shipping schedules
Direct contact with carrier drivers
Communicate accurate shipment details to loaders and get dock door info for drivers via radio.
Complete weekly cancelled carton report for DC
Void/split carton shortages from customer BOL
Assign consolidation location for loads in process
Systematically close loads
File BOL and prepare invoice for drivers. Also maintains and files this information
Updates dock locations

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college/Associates Degree preferred
Job related knowledge should include traffic and distribution processes
Ability to learn and comprehend changing processes of customer requirements is required.
Must have basic knowledge of US Geography.
Personal computer skills including Excel, Word, e-mail and the internet.
Must be able to learn WM2013 warehouse management system.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Must be available to work overtime and work at satellite facilities as needed.
Good organizational skills and able to handle multiple priorities.
Must be able to work safely in a distribution environment.
