Job Description:

SUMMARY


The Automation Engineering Supervisor leads a team responsible for developing tooling, equipment, software and technology to enable the business to achieve greater levels of capability and productivity.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


* Manages day to day team projects and workload to ensure business priorities are in alignment with team activities.
* Leverages Engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies to maximize team results and ensure team output meets the needs of internal stakeholders.
* Leads cross-functional project management of Engineering projects - including but not limited to capital equipment, problem solving, new product/process/tooling/software development, cost savings, customer related programs.
* Partners with Human Resources to recruit and hire technical staff.
* Hires, trains, develops, manages performance of staff.
* Participates in Engineering activities (design, analysis, process development etc.) as required to support plant objectives.
* Works with Purchasing to develop sources for materials used in designs as well as OEMs.
* Lead efforts in DFM review on new projects to ensure new products are launched with lean methodology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS


* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
* Hearing protection in specific locations.
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Related field.
* Master's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management or related field preferred.
* Previous experience in made to order manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of/Previous experience with AS9100 registered manufacturing environment preferred.
* Experience with SAP ERP system preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.


JOB SKILLS


* People Leadership skills to lead technical team of approx. 3-7 direct reports.
* Excellent oral and written communications skills. Technical writing experience preferred.
* Able to adapt quickly to changes driven through organization strategy, continuous improvement or customer needs.
* Able to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely to other employees, suppliers and customers.
* Previous Technical experience with Mechanical or electrical design - 3D Modelling, Computer Programming, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
* Understanding of Design for Manufacturability, Engineering Change management.
* Formal Problem Solving Knowledge (RCA, PDCA, 8D, etc.).
* Able to lead, participate in and advise cross functional project teams
* Co-operates with others and treats all with respect.
* Accepts responsibility for own actions.
* Willingly accepts feedback from others.
