Job Description
Implements and administers quality programs in accordance with applicable requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and in compliance of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 to ensure integrity and consistency of quality systems and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Specialist may perform as acting Quality Manager as required.
Coordinates with multiple locations, units, and/or cost centers
Conducts internal audits
Determines SOP applicability
Peer reviews SOPs and other controlled documents
Identifies and participates in process improvements
Evaluates responses to inspection reports
Participates in external audits
Implements and monitors compliance with SOPs
Defines, maintains, and implements new employee training SOP
Participates in development of training programs
Monitors control charts
Reviews methods for completeness and compliance
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
2+ years in laboratory operations and/or laboratory quality control/assurance
Successful performance of self-directed projects
Ability to learn new tasks
Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
Bachelor's degree - experience may be substituted for education
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong aptitude and proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing software
Knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements
Expected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area.
Mandatory immunizations and screening as required.
Overtime and weekend work as required.
Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and at standing bench top.
Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
Will be exposed to potential food allergens.
