The Role
We're looking for students curious about sound and vibration in our built environment. This could be perfecting the acoustics in a concert hall, making it easier for students to concentrate in class, determining the appropriate background levels for speech privacy in the office, limiting uncomfortable sway in tall buildings, preventing construction activity from damaging nearby structures , and much more.
Responsibilities
Conduct field measurements and inspections
Review architectural and engineering drawings
Assist in analytical modeling , research and calculations, and generating reports
Requirements
Undergraduate or graduate student in acoustics OR a degree in construction, engineering , architecture , or performing arts with demonstrated coursework in acoustics or related fields.
Strong communication and presentation skills, an aptitude for taking initiative, and an eagerness to learn.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite ( i.e. Word , Excel , PowerPoint ).
Fundamentals of sound and/or vibration, are preferred.
Basic knowledge of how to read architectural and engineering drawings is preferred.
Experience BlueBeam , Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp
Background/training in music (performance, mixing, etc.) preferred.
Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$25-$30hourly.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byCaliforniaEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
