ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY




SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and the Assistant Director, the Assistant Coordinator will assist in providing administrative and operational support for all aspects of implementing the Program. This position will be split between two programs and offices, the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) and the Engage program within the Office of Academic Innovation.

This position will be 20 hours per week as an Events Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Research as an Events Coordinator. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the OUR's daily operations and major events. This position will be coordinating key undergraduate research programs, including event support for the Research Scholarships and Creative Activities Conference, the Creative Activities and Research Symposium, workshops, and the Summer Seminar Series. Additionally, this position assists with student advising and supporting the Conference Presentation Award and Emerging Scholars Program.

This position will involve 20 hours per week in the Engage Program within the Office of Academic Innovation as an Assistant Program Coordinator. This position will work with a dynamic and passionate team to serve students who are first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved in higher education. The work includes advising students on program requirements, supporting students as they navigate higher education and research, processing program paperwork, support program activities and events, and processing student payments.



SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):


  • Provides administrative and program leadership in a complex program with broad impact.

  • Assist in conceptualizing, planning and implementing new program components.

  • Provide strategic information analysis.

  • Assist in compliance maintenance.

  • Assist with policies and procedures related to the program.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating recruitment and student support activities in collaboration office leadership.

  • Assist in ensuring that fiscal commitments associated with the grant are approved in a timely manner.

  • Assist in maintaining efficient and effective information systems with all project stakeholders.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating all meetings and events associated with the project.

  • Assist in acquiring and compiling various types of data from multiple sources.

  • Assist in acquiring, maintaining, and organizing student data related to the Annual Performance Report.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 year of higher education or related field experience

  • Must possess excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.

  • This position requires a combination of strong administrative, research and interpersonal skills.

  • The following elements of skills and experience are desired: strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all levels and with constituencies internal and external to the university.

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and be able to work independently to establish and accomplish priorities and to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the campus procedures and activities and the overall organization is required.

  • Ability to effectively use business software such as Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet) and instructional design with Canvas.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, student affairs, or STEM discipline

  • 2+ Years of experience in program coordination, event planning, or student engagement activities
