Job Description:

This position is responsible for operational execution of various contract transportation customers’ requirements as well as own coordinator responsibilities. It is a pivotal front-line function responsible for Customer satisfaction and service

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership of and direction for assigned account(s)
  • Primary point of contact with customer/carrier interaction and daily tactical communication via phone and email
  • Heavy customer/carrier interaction and communication daily via phone and/or email
  • Facilitate specialized customer requests
  • Utilize methods and procedures to achieve process compliance and organization goals
  • Obtain basic knowledge of operational reporting for accounts
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to drive continuous improvement for team
  • Maintain high level of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Provide support for customer complaints and issues
  • Manage methodologies to reduce spend and increase service both within and across customers
  • Handle operational issues: direct, resolve, alert and communicate actions required and results.
  • Monitor loads for exception and manage exceptions to closure
  • Training of carriers/customers on use of Covenant Logistics web tools
  • Work cross-functionally amongst all accounts using technology and business processes to ensure maximum value to customers and Covenant Logistics (customer service, planning and execution)
  • Enter shipment/load information from customers into TMS operating systems as needed
  • Completes planning, carrier selection, tendering of load/shipments
  • Implements track & trace functionally for every load and shipment
  • Execute spot buy for hot, one off and/or unusual non-contracted lanes
  • Provide back up where needed for coordinators that are absent.
  • Identify cost reduction, process improvement and revenue generation opportunities
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to other employees
  • Owns order receipt, planning and optimization, as well as carrier selection and tender for designated account(s)
  • Responsible for assisting a coordinator(s) handling execution through track & trace functionality for every load and shipment
  • Responsible for accurate data flow and exception resolution necessary for settlement and reporting
  • Responsible in assisting a coordinator(s) for freight claim investigation, compliance, filing with carrier/vendor, and seeing the claim through to success
  • Responsible for assisting coordinator(s) in recognizing problems and finding solutions to successfully execute shipments, claims, compliance, and vendor activities.
  • Other Tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates leadership and success in tactical roles
  • Has a broad knowledge of the industry and the needs of our customers
  • Strong problem solving, sound judgment and good decision-making ability
  • Good multi-tasking skills, ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Maintains effective working relationships with peer departments, service providers and customers
  • Solid experience and knowledge of TMS, Load Boards, Excel, Access, Word, Power Point
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred
  • Minimum one-year experience with transportation operations background required
  • Strong problem solving, sound judgement and good decision-making ability

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.

Pay Range: $39,998.40-$62,129.60

Pay Grade: 6
